LG Pro:Centric SMART Set Top Box STB-5500

The STB-5500 is the latest Pro:Centric Smart set top box now supporting Ultra High Definition (UHD) video decoding and output resolution, plus a integrated 4K picture upscaler of Full HD content on the HDMI/USB inputs.

For future hardware upgrades, the STB-5500 supports an enclosure design with an expansion side-connector enabling third party System Integrator partners to add their own hardware modules to deliver additional capabilities. As an example, a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem card is offered to provide IPover-coax network connectivity to the STB-5500.

The STB-5500 platform enables LG's partners to deliver applications that optimize the guest experience which include:

• Bluetooth Sound Sync that allows users to connect their personal devices to stream music and play through the TV speakers.
• Access to an expanded list of SMART applications, including "Over-The-Top" video services and games.
• Soft Access Point to enable a guest to connect their personal devices for internet access.
• Simple mobile device pairing process for guests using Screen Sharing (Miracast)
• DOCSIS 3.0 modem upgrade option for IP over coax communications (additional head-end equipment required).
