Cisco C1121-4P Overview

The Cisco C1121-4P is part of the Cisco ISR 1100 Series Integrated Services Routers and is designed to provide secure, reliable and flexible connectivity for enterprise branch offices, remote sites, small business environments and distributed networks.

The router combines four integrated Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports with two Gigabit Ethernet WAN interfaces. One WAN interface provides a RJ-45/SFP combination, while the second WAN interface provides dedicated RJ-45 connectivity.

With Cisco IOS XE, SD-WAN capabilities, integrated security functions and optional PoE/PoE+ support, the C1121-4P provides a flexible platform for modern enterprise branch networking.

4-Port Gigabit Ethernet LAN Connectivity

The Cisco C1121-4P provides 4 integrated Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports for connecting computers, IP phones, wireless access points, network switches, printers, surveillance devices and other Ethernet-based business equipment.

Gigabit Ethernet connectivity provides high-speed wired networking for branch-office environments while the integrated router provides WAN, routing, security and network-management capabilities.

Dual Gigabit Ethernet WAN Connectivity

The C1121-4P provides two Gigabit Ethernet WAN interfaces, giving organizations flexible options for connecting branch offices to service-provider networks and enterprise WAN infrastructures.

One WAN interface combines RJ-45 and SFP connectivity, while the second WAN interface provides a dedicated RJ-45 connection. This design allows the router to support different copper and fiber-based WAN environments.

RJ-45 and SFP WAN Flexibility

The combination of a RJ-45/SFP WAN interface and a dedicated RJ-45 WAN interface gives the C1121-4P additional flexibility when connecting to copper or fiber-based network infrastructure.

Cisco IOS XE and SD-WAN

The C1121-4P operates with Cisco IOS XE, Cisco's modern software platform for enterprise routing and networking. IOS XE provides the foundation for routing, security, network management and software-defined networking capabilities.

The Cisco ISR 1100 Series supports SD-WAN architectures, allowing the C1121-4P to participate in modern enterprise WAN deployments with centralized management and policy control.

PoE and PoE+ Capability

The Cisco C1121-4P supports optional inline power for compatible network devices. Cisco specifies 2 PoE ports or 1 PoE+ port for the 4-port platform when the appropriate PoE power supply is installed.

The standard external power configuration provides up to 66W output, while Cisco specifies a 115W power supply for optional PoE and PoE+ operation.

Security and Enterprise Networking

The C1121-4P is designed for enterprise branch environments where secure WAN connectivity, routing and centralized network management are required. Cisco ISR 1100 Series platforms support enterprise security and authentication capabilities including role-based access control, TACACS+ and RADIUS.
