The Cisco Catalyst C9600-LC-48YL is a high-density fiber line card designed for Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series modular switches. It provides 48 high-speed SFP-based interfaces for enterprise campus core, distribution and aggregation networks.

The C9600-LC-48YL supports multiple Ethernet speeds, providing flexible connectivity for evolving enterprise infrastructures. When paired with the C9600-SUP-1, the line card supports up to 48 nonblocking 25G/10G/1G ports. When paired with the C9600X-SUP-2, it supports up to 48 nonblocking 50G/25G/10G ports.

This flexibility makes the C9600-LC-48YL suitable for high-bandwidth upstream and downstream connections where high port density and SFP-based fiber connectivity are required.

The C9600-LC-48YL is designed for the Cisco Catalyst C9606R modular chassis. Cisco specifies installation in chassis slots 1, 2, 5 and 6.

The modular architecture allows organizations to combine different Catalyst 9600 line cards and Supervisor Engines according to their network requirements.

Security and Network Capabilities

The C9600-LC-48YL is part of the Cisco Catalyst 9600 enterprise switching platform and operates with Cisco IOS XE through the compatible Supervisor Engine. The line card uses the platform's high-performance ASIC architecture for enterprise networking, switching and security capabilities.

Cisco documentation identifies AES-256/MACsec-256 capability on the applicable ASIC architecture; however, Cisco specifically notes that the C9600-LC-48YL does not support MACsec when paired with C9600X-SUP-2.
