Software-Configurable Beam Patterns
The CW9179F uses an integrated antenna and access point design with software- configurable beam patterns. This allows wireless coverage to be adapted to the physical layout of a large venue without requiring a different access point for every coverage orientation.
Wide Beam Provides broad coverage suitable for open venue areas and wider wireless coverage requirements.
Narrow / Boresight Provides focused coverage for targeted areas and high-density zones.
Front-and-Back Provides directional coverage on both sides for supported deployment scenarios.
Software Selectable Beam configuration can be selected according to deployment and RF planning requirements.
Cisco documents three selectable beam patterns: Wide, Narrow (Boresight), and Front-and-Back. In Wide mode, the 5 GHz beams are steered 15 degrees away from each other. Front-and-Back mode redirects the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Low radios to the N-Type connectors and requires external antennas for those radios.
| Beam Pattern | 2.4 GHz | 5 GHz Low | 5 GHz High | 6 GHz |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wide | 70° × 70° | 35° × 35° | 35° × 35° | 70° × 35° |
| Narrow / Boresight | 70° × 70° | 35° × 35° | 35° × 35° | 35° × 35° |
| Front-and-Back | External antenna | External antenna | 35° × 35° | 35° × 35° |
Dual 10G Multigigabit Ethernet
The Cisco CW9179F includes two high-speed Multigigabit RJ-45 Ethernet interfaces. Each interface supports 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 5 Gbps, and 10 Gbps Ethernet, providing the wired uplink capacity required for high-throughput Wi-Fi 7 networks.
In the maximum UPOE configuration, the access point can operate with two 10G Ethernet links while maintaining its full quad-radio wireless configuration. This provides a high-capacity wired foundation for demanding enterprise wireless deployments.
Integrated GNSS, Bluetooth and IoT
The CW9179F combines high-performance Wi-Fi with additional wireless and location capabilities. Integrated GNSS/GPS can assist Cisco's Global Use deployment process in determining the country of operation when connected to a Catalyst 9800 controller.
- Integrated GNSS/GPS
- Bluetooth Low Energy
- Integrated IoT capabilities
- Dedicated wireless scanning radio
- Integrated directional antenna architecture
- External antenna connectors for supported configurations
Indoor and Outdoor Deployment
The Wireless 9179F is designed as a convertible indoor/outdoor platform for large public venues. Its integrated access point and antenna design provides flexible coverage options while its rugged physical design supports demanding installation environments.
Outdoor 6 GHz: Outdoor 6 GHz operation requires the Cisco CW-ACC-9179-B-00 environment pack. Applicable country-specific regulatory requirements, RF power limits, and permitted channels must be followed for deployment.
