Overview

The Cisco Meraki MG41-HW is a high-performance CAT18 LTE cellular gateway designed to provide reliable wireless WAN connectivity for enterprise networks. It can be deployed as a primary Internet connection or as a secondary WAN connection for failover and business continuity.

The MG41 converts cellular LTE connectivity from a mobile network provider into a reliable Ethernet handoff that can be connected to a Meraki MX appliance or a third-party router or firewall.

With dual SIM support, automatic SIM failover, two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and PoE capability, the MG41 provides flexible deployment options for branch offices, remote sites, temporary locations and other environments where reliable wired Internet connectivity may not be available.

High-Speed CAT18 LTE Connectivity

The MG41 features an integrated CAT18 LTE-A Pro modem capable of delivering up to 1.2 Gbps download and 150 Mbps upload under supported network conditions.

Support for up to 5-carrier aggregation (5CA) and 4×4 downlink MIMO allows the MG41 to take advantage of compatible cellular networks for higher throughput and improved WAN performance.

Dual SIM and Automatic Failover

The MG41 includes two Nano SIM slots, allowing organizations to use multiple cellular providers or maintain a secondary cellular connection for improved WAN resilience.

Automatic SIM failover can switch cellular connectivity when the primary SIM or carrier connection becomes unavailable. SIM configuration and cellular parameters can be managed through the Meraki Dashboard.

Dual Gigabit Ethernet Connectivity

The MG41 provides two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. One port is a dedicated Gigabit Ethernet interface while the second interface can operate as a convertible LAN/WAN Gigabit Ethernet connection.

This allows the cellular gateway to provide Ethernet WAN connectivity to a Meraki MX appliance, firewall, router or other compatible network device.

Primary and Backup WAN Connectivity

The MG41 can be deployed as a primary WAN connection in locations where wired broadband is unavailable or impractical. It can also serve as a secondary WAN uplink for automatic failover when the primary Internet connection fails.

The MG41 features an IP67-rated enclosure designed for demanding installation environments. It can operate in temperatures from -30°C to 50°C and humidity levels from 5% to 95% non-condensing.

MG41-HW is the hardware SKU for the Cisco Meraki MG41 Cellular Gateway. A compatible Meraki Enterprise license is required for cloud management, software upgrades and support.
