Product Overview
The Cisco Nexus N9K-C9504 is a modular 4-slot chassis within the Cisco Nexus 9500 Series data center switching platform. Unlike fixed-port switches, the N9K-C9504 provides a flexible chassis architecture where organizations can select compatible line cards and fabric modules according to their required port speeds, density, buffering, and data center architecture.
The chassis can accommodate up to four line cards, making it suitable for high-capacity data center aggregation, spine, core, gateway, and end-of-row deployments. Cisco supports multiple generations of line cards and fabric modules, allowing organizations to build systems supporting 1G, 10G, 25G, 40G, 50G, 100G, 200G, and 400G Ethernet connectivity.
Important: The N9K-C9504 is the chassis only. Line cards, supervisor modules, system controllers, fabric modules, power supplies, and fan trays are separate components and must be selected according to the required configuration.

Modular Data Center Architecture
The N9K-C9504 is engineered for environments where network requirements can change over time. Its modular architecture allows network administrators to select the appropriate line cards for server access, aggregation, spine connectivity, or high-speed interconnection requirements.
The chassis supports up to four line cards and up to six fabric modules of the same supported type. It can also accommodate up to two supervisors, two system controllers, four power supplies, and three fan trays, providing a highly scalable hardware platform for demanding enterprise and data center networks.

High-Density Port and Line Card Flexibility
Because the N9K-C9504 uses interchangeable line cards, the final port configuration depends on the selected modules. Cisco's N9500 platform supports line cards capable of providing high-density Ethernet interfaces from 1 Gigabit through 400 Gigabit Ethernet.
Depending on the installed line cards, a Cisco N9500 system can be configured for very high port density, including configurations supporting up to 256 × 400G, 524 × 200G, 1024 × 100G, 2048 × 50G, or high-density lower-speed Ethernet connectivity.
The modular design makes the N9K-C9504 suitable for organizations that require a migration path from traditional 1G/10G networking toward 25G, 40G, 100G, 200G, and 400G data center connectivity.
Spine, Core and Aggregation Deployment
The Cisco Nexus 9500 platform is designed for large-scale data center architectures and can operate as a spine node in ```
