Eaton 5P1550IRG2 Line‑Interactive UPS

The Eaton 5P1550IRG2 is an enterprise‑grade Line‑Interactive Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) designed to protect critical IT systems and network devices from power disturbances and unexpected outages. With a rating of 1550 VA / 1350 W, it delivers reliable backup power and voltage regulation for servers, storage hardware, and communication equipment. Its 1U rackmount form factor makes it well‑suited for installation in standard 19‑inch racks, optimizing space in server rooms and network closets.

Electrical Output and Power Topology

This UPS uses Line‑Interactive topology to correct voltage fluctuations (such as brownouts and over‑voltages) without switching to battery for minor disturbances, improving efficiency and battery longevity. Output is a sine wave at 230 V nominal with a 0.9 output power factor, supporting up to 1350 W of usable load capacity. It includes (6) IEC C13 output receptacles and accepts power via a C14 input connection, offering flexible connectivity for multiple devices.

Battery System and Runtime

The internal battery array consists of six user‑replaceable sealed lead‑acid (VRLA) batteries rated 6 V / 9 Ah each, which provide essential runtime during mains interruptions and can be replaced in the field without specialized tools. Eaton’s ABM or constant voltage charging method enhances battery life through controlled charging, automatic battery tests, and deep discharge protection. Note that unlike some larger UPS systems, the 5P1550IRG2 does not support external battery expansion modules, making it ideal for moderate backup durations typical in small‑to‑medium IT setups.

Communications and Management Interfaces

This model includes a multilingual graphical LCD display for intuitive status readouts and diagnostics. Communication interfaces comprise USB (HID‑compliant) and RS‑232 serial ports, along with a mini‑terminal block supporting remote On/Off and Remote Power Off signals. It also offers dry contact (optocoupler) outputs and an expansion slot for optional communication cards, enabling integration with Eaton’s Brightlayer Software suite for remote monitoring, automated shutdown, and event logging.
