Electrical Performance and Topology

The Eaton 9PX1500RT features an online double-conversion topology, which isolates connected loads from grid fluctuations, surges, sags, and frequency anomalies. It supplies a true sine wave output with a 0.9 power factor, ensuring up to 1350 W of usable output capacity at 120 V, and maintains output voltage within ±1 % steady-state for stable power delivery. Standard receptacles include (8) NEMA 5-15R outlets, accommodating multiple connected devices without the need for external distribution.

Battery System and Runtime Expandability

Internally, the 9PX1500RT is equipped with sealed lead-acid batteries managed by Eaton’s ABM® battery technology, which uses a 3-stage charging process to extend usable battery life by up to 50 % compared to conventional designs. These batteries are hot-swappable, enabling fast replacement without powering down the UPS. For extended runtime during longer outages, the system supports up to four external battery modules (EBM) (part number 9PXEBM48RT), which can significantly lengthen backup duration.

Communications, Control, and Software Integration

To facilitate monitoring and management, the Eaton 9PX1500RT includes a graphical LCD display and a 5-button programmable menu for real-time status, diagnostics, and configuration. Communication interfaces comprise USB (HID-compliant) and RS-232 serial ports, as well as mini-terminal blocks for remote ON/OFF and remote power off (RPO) functions. An optional Mini-Slot expansion port supports add-on cards (e.g., Gigabit network, Modbus, or relay cards) to enable full remote management and integration with Eaton’s Intelligent Power Software Suite.

The unit’s chassis measures approximately 3.4 in (2U) × 17.3 in (W) × 17.7 in (D) and weighs about 42.5 lb, making it suitable for standard 19-inch rack installations as well as desktop placements. It operates efficiently with ~90 % efficiency at full load, and its noise output stays below 40 dB at 1 m, suitable for office or data centre environments. Environmental ratings support operation from 0 °C to 40 °C with high humidity tolerance. Compliance includes IEC 62040-2 Category C1, CISPR22 Class B, and cULus Listing, ensuring global safety and electromagnetic compatibility standards are met.
